Sharks Prosepcts: Sam Dickinson Named Top OHL Defenseman

Top San Jose Sharks defense prospect Sam Dickinson was named the Ontario Hockey League Defenseman of the Year on Thursday.

Dickinson set a new London Knights single-season record for points by a defenseman with 91 (29 goals, 62 assists). The Sharks’ prospect was a league-leading plus-64 in 55 games. He had 12 power-play goals, eight shorthanded points, and 245 shots to lead all OHL defensemen.

Dickinson was drafted 11th overall by the San Jose Sharks in 2024 and signed his entry-level contract before he returned to the OHL from training camp.

The future Sharks d-man played for Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. Dickinson had two assists in five games.

Other Winners of the Max Kaminsky Trophy include Evan Bouchard, Aaron Ekblad, Drew Doughty, and Chris Pronger. Dickinson is part of OHL History and isn’t done playing yet.

The London Knights are flying through the OHL Playoffs with back-to-back four-game sweeps in the first two rounds. Dickinson has four goals and nine assists in the eight playoff games.
