San Jose Sharks prospect Filip Bystedt missed his sixth consecutive game for the San Jose Barracuda with an upper-body injury.

It was unclear what Bystedt had been dealing with, but Cuda head coach John McCarthy told Sharks Hockey Digest that he hoped to get the 21-year-old center back this season.

ā€œI’m not on a time frame, but he is injured,ā€ McCarthy said after the Barracuda’s 5-4 loss in overtime to the San Diego Gulls. ā€œWe’re hoping he’ll be back soon.ā€

Bystedt has been solid for the Barracuda this season, with nine goals and 17 assists in 43 games. He’s also a +4.

With no clear timeline for Bystedt, the San Jose Sharks will look to other prospects like Thomas Bordeleau to get a shot in the NHL late in the season.

The Sharks Have A Thomas Bordeleau Decision To Make

On Wednesday, Bordeleau recorded his 100th career point in the AHL against the Gulls.

2020 second-round pick for the San Jose Sharks, Tristen Robins, was a healthy scratch on Wednesday. Robins has been a fixture in the ā€˜Cuda lineup for the last three seasons but hasn’t been the most productive.

In 41 games this season, Robins has seven goals and 11 assists. He has scored just once in the last 11 games.

Given the time of year, Robins being scratched could’ve meant a trade was looming. Coach McCarthy debunked that postgame.

ā€œNo injury. Just a coach’s decision,ā€ McCarthy said.
