On Tuesday, the San Jose Barracuda announced they have signed University of Denver goaltender Matt Davis.
Davis’ contract is a minor league deal with the Barracuda, which will run through the 2025-26 season.
Davis led Denver to three NCAA Frozen Fours (2022, 2024, 2025) and two national championships in 2022 and 2024.
This season, Davis appeared in 40 games. He finished with a 29-10-1 record, a 2.07 goals-against average, and a .924 save percentage. The 23-year-old was named to the NCHC All-Tournament Team and was NCHC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
During his championship season in 23-24, Davis was named DU’s Bill Masterton MVP winner.
Davis joins a San Jose Sharks organization still building its goaltending prospects. Yaroslav Askarov is the projected No. 1 goalie for the future. Georgi Romanov showed well during his time with the Sharks, and Gabriel Carriere surprised many with his AHL success this season.
