San Jose Sharks defenseman Jacob Trouba may miss Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings because of an illness.

Trouba did not skate at practice on Friday for the same reason.

If the veteran d-man is unable to go on Saturday, Sam Dickinson would make his season debut alongside Nolan Allan.

“A big right-shot veteran D that we saw play a really good game the other night,” Warsofsky said of Trouba. “But we have someone that’s got experience, even though he’s young. We’re pretty comfortable. We’ll see how it plays out.”

Dickinson has not gotten off to the start he’d hoped for in 26-27. The 20-year-old was a healthy scratch on opening night and was passed on the depth chart by Allan. The Sharks still hold the 2024 first-round pick in high regard.

“Though Dickie’s a young player, he’s got experience playing in the league last year and understanding the areas that we need to pick up a little bit on,” Warsofsky said. “We feel really comfortable in that area.”

The Sharks will look to go 2-0-0 to start a season for the first time since 2021-22, when they won the first four games.

Yaroslav Askarov will start in goal for the San Jose Sharks. Warsofsky told reporters the netminder has earned another start based on his performance.
