The San Jose Sharks opened their 2026-27 campaign with two wins at the SAP Center, and the fans got to enjoy all-new on-ice graphics.
Along with a new goal song that fans have already started to love, the Sharks displayed a new on-ice pregame display and hype video. As the Shark tank goes through its reimagination, aspects of the new metaphorical toys are already showing.
Lasers, on-ice graphics, and a return of an intimidating but awesome Shark head drop have captivated the hockey world.
But the San Jose Sharks are really going all out to be unique, finding ways to hide small details on the ice that you can’t find anywhere else. Before Macklin Celebrini and the rest of the team hit the ice, the Sharks appear to swim under the ice in a highly detailed graphic that deserves attention.
The fun doesn’t stop after the game starts either. During each intermission, the Sharks put on a fun laser show to get the crowd back into the game with high energy. They also use pop culture, including a great line from the movie Austin Powers.
During the film, villain Dr. Evil requests “Sharks with friggin laser beams attached to their heads.” Those who know the movie can hear him say that as you read this. But the Sharks took it to a new level by animating Sharks with laser beams on their head.
The Sharks haven’t made the playoffs since 2019, but if they do, the playoff intros will be at another level.
