Sharks’ Shakir Mukhamadullin Out For Season Due To Injury

San Jose Sharks rookie defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin will miss the rest of the 24-25 season due to an upper-body injury.

At the time of his injury, Mukhamadullin had been the Sharks’ No. 1 defenseman. The 23-year-old had played close to 25 minutes a night in three of the previous four games before the injury.

Frank Vatrano of the Anaheim Ducks responded to a hit that Mukhamdullin laid on Ducks forward Troy Terry.

In 30 games this season, Mukhamadullin had two goals and seven assists. He’d been playing the right side as a lefty and earned the trust of head coach Ryan Warsofsky.

“[It’s] unfortunate because he was playing some good hockey. That’s how this game works; injuries happen,” Warsofsky said. “In every sport, you’re going to go through some adversity. We’ll be there to support him and get him through this and be ready.”

The San Jose Sharks bench boss would not reveal the specifics of Mukhamadullin’s injury, but he was spotted in a sling after a game on April 3.

Warsofsky also ruled out Mukhamadullin for the San Jose Barracuda and their potential playoff run.
