Former San Jose Sharks forward Anthony Duclair was called out by his head coach, Patrick Roy, after the New York Islanders’ sixth-straight loss on Tuesday.
New York’s playoff chances have all but slipped away with the 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Duclair is taking the brunt of some poor performances.
The winger played 12 shifts for 12:15 ice time and was -1. Roy didn’t hold back during postgame.
The former New York Rangers 3rd-round pick signed a four-year, $14 million contract with the Islanders last off-season. Unfortunately for Duclair, it hasn’t gone well. After dealing with an injury to start the season, Duclair has only scored 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in 44 games.
Duclair was acquired from the Florida Panthers via trade by the San Jose Sharks during the 2023 off-season. At last season’s trade deadline, San Jose flipped Duclair to the Lightning for Jack Thompson and a 2024 3rd-round pick.
Duclair played 56 games for San Jose, scoring 16 goals and 11 assists.
