The San Jose Sharks have made a trade with the Vancouver Canucks to acquire Kiefer Sherwood.
Sherwood has been the subject of trade rumors for most of the season, as the winger is in the final year of a two-year contract with an AAV of $1.5 million. The physical winger has found a goal-scoring touch this season with 17 goals in 44 games. Last season, Sherwood set an NHL record for the most hits in a single season, 462. The previous record was 383.
In return, the San Jose Sharks traded their own 2nd-round picks in 2026 and 2027, as well as defenseman Cole Clayton. The Sharks’ success this season is being rewarded by GM Mike Grier with the addition of Sherwood.
The new winger is out with an undisclosed injury through at least the end of the month, according to reports. Per THN’s Adam Kierszenblat and Izzy Cheung, Sherwood was expected to be re-evaluated on Friday.
