Yaroslav Askarov will return to the San Jose Sharks crease against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
Askrov was forced to miss Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers due to an illness, but has made enough progress to start on Saturday. Flyers EBUG Justin Kowalkoski was signed to an ATO and backed up Alex Nedeljkovic in Askarov’s absence.
There were multiple injuries following the San Jose Sharks’ 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. Shakir Mukhamadullin won’t play per SJHN, but Ty Dellandrea, who was considered a GTD, appears to be on track to play. Ryan Reaves was also a game-time decision, but should play.
Timothy Liljegren won’t play for the Sharks against the Penguins, but that is a coach’s decision. Ryan Warsofsky told SJHN that he feels the defenseman’s game has slipped recently. SHD caught up with Liljegren before Thursday’s game in Toronto.
Not where I want it to be, right now,” Liljegren said. “Still looking to get some good games together in a row. I feel like it’s kind of like the team. It’s a good one, a bad one. We’re looking for consistency as a team, and for me, individually.”
Nick Leddy and Vinent Iorio will enter the San Jose Sharks lineup in place of Mukhamadullin and Liljegren.
