San Jose Sharks superstar Macklin Celebrini will soon know if he makes the 2026 Canadian Olympic hockey roster.

Team Canada’s roster will be revealed on New Year’s Eve shortly before the Sharks host the Minnesota Wild in an afternoon showdown. TSN will reveal the roster at 8:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday.

Puck drop for Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT, meaning the Sharks will not hold a morning skate. Whether selected or not, Celebrini could be made available to the media before the game for his reaction to the results.

The San Jose Sharks’ No. 1 center has done everything possible to make the team. Celebrini, 19, holds sole possession of third place in the NHL in points with 57 (20 goals, 37 assists). Currently on a seven-game heater, tying his career-longest, scoring five goals and nine assists, and helping the San Jose Sharks stay in the playoff fight.

Playing for Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championships over the Summer should give him an upper hand over some other bubble players. He’s taken after his hockey idol, Sidney Crosby, and lived the dream of playing on his wing.

If Hockey Canada goes to Crosby and asks whether Celebrini is deserving, there is no reason to believe Crosby would think any differently than fans rooting for the Sharks star.

Reports from multiple NHL insiders, including TSN and The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun, say that Celebrini is becoming a virtual lock to make Team Canada’s roster.

The San Jose Sharks superstar may be 19 years old, but that shouldn’t be the reason he is stopped from playing in the 2026 Olympic Games.
