The San Jose Sharks are holding a press conference on Tuesday for Captain Logan Couture to announce his retirement. General Manager Mike Grier will also be in attendance.

Only media will be allowed to participate in the press conference, but it will be streamed on all Sharks platforms.

Couture played just six games last season and hasn’t been able to join the Sharks in any capacity on the ice in 24-25 due to a deep groin injury. Reports confirm that Couture will announce his retirement. On Monday, no official announcement was made about Couture’s status before releasing press conference details.

The forward has played his entire career with the San Jose Sharks and recently made small headlines after unfollowing the team on Instagram.

As stated in that story on Sharks Hockey Digest, actions like that cannot be followed because they lack context. Even with the news of tomorrow’s media availability, Couture’s social media actions still don’t have context.

In January, Grier told reporters that Couture would remain the San Jose Sharks captain for as long as he was here.

“I mean, Couture is the captain. As long as he’s here, he’ll be the captain, and I’m not someone who’s going to go out and feel like there’s a need to name a new captain the next day,” Grier said. “All that stuff is earned over time, and people lead in their own ways. I think we have a good group.

SHD will attend tomorrow’s proceedings and provide all the details and news following the event.
