Former San Jose Sharks goalie Aaron Dell has announced his retirement from professional hockey.

The 36-year-old undersized goalie played 130 career NHL games after going undrafted. The Sharks took a shot when they signed Dell before the 2014-15 season.

Dell would make his NHL debut in 2016. He played 20 NHL games, going 11-6-1. He had substantial numbers as well with a .931 save % and a 2.00 GAA. Following his solid start to the NHL, Dell would remain in the NHL through the 19-20 season before making multiple stops around the league.

He would also play for the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres. He signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2020, before being claimed by the Devils. He finished his career back where he started, with the San Jose Barracuda.

The former San Jose Sharks backup was as solid a backup goalie as a team could ask for. His size and undrafted story remain an inspiration for long-shot aspiring NHLers.
