San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky did his pregame media availability with a fire in his belly.
The Sharks coach clearly isn’t happy about the results his team has gotten over the first four games. There was a clear message from Warsofsky before the game.
“The victory will come with the way we work and the way we compete. The game is a humbling game. We can’t beat ourselves. We have to be disciplined in certain situations,” Warsofsky said. “Right now, we just want to win the game. You’ve got to put the work in to get the result. We’ve got to worry about the process and the way we have to work and the way we have to play, and the victory will come with that.”
Following a 6-3 loss to the Utah Mammoth on Friday, Warsofsky told reporters about his line changes. 2025 No. 2 pick in the NHL Draft, Michael Misa, will re-enter the lineup for Ryan Reaves.

Warsofsky wants the Sharks to compete harder and be more connected
The San Jose Sharks head coach is looking for a good start from his team, and he’s not banking on hope. When asked if he hoped playing last night could carry over to tonight with positive momentum, Warsofsky fired back.
“I think hope is a bad way to live your life. So we’re gonna f*****g work,” Warsofsky said. “I think compete is when you go into a battle, you know you’re coming out with puck. You can go in there with effort, but we gotta win. We gotta start winning battles. Big game tonight.”
The Sharks’ head coach has implemented C4 (Care, Competitive, Connected, Consistent) for his players. He feels the connectivity is lacking.
“Our skating and our effort to skate off the puck has to be way higher, is part of the more important thing,” Warsofsky said. “I think our guys are working hard. We’re not connected, so it doesn’t let us be in the right spots. I keep saying the word “compete,” and you guys are probably saying, “Well, what’s the issue here?” We got to keep working at it and keep seeing it and looking at it. I think if we’re more connected, we’ll we’ll show more compete.”
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on NBCSCA and heard on the Sharks Audio Network.
