Move over, Joe Thornton, Macklin Celebrini has passed you for the San Jose Sharks record for most points in a single season with 115.

Celebrini registered two assists in the first period against the Winnipeg Jets to tie Jumbo Joe at 114. After many chances to start the third period, Celebrini fired a wrist shot past Eric Comrie for his third point of the night!

The chase for Celebrini to catch the San Jose Sharks legend has been on the back of the mind for many fans. Since being eliminated from playoff contention, the focus has turned to Celebrini’s chase of Sharks history.

Thornton set the San Jose Sharks single-season points record during the 2006-07 season. That year, the Sharks centerman had 22 goals and 92 assists. Thornton has housed Celebrini for each of his first two NHL seasons, and now the 19-year-old has some bragging rights over No. 19.

Thornton was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2025, a terrific achievement for a superstar player and arguably the best player in Sharks history.

Celebrini played in all 82 games of the 2025-26 season. The 19-year-old is now forever in Sharks history, in yet another way. Celebrini sits third in NHL history in points by a teenager in a single season. He is behind only Sidney Crosby (120) and Wayne Gretzky (137).

The centerman is also now fifth all-time in points by a teenager in NHL history with 178 points. He surpassed Detroit Red Wings GM and legend Steve Yzerman.
