According to Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects, the San Jose Sharks are interested in trading for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson.

This isn’t the first time the 24-year-old has been linked to the Sharks. The winger signed a one-year contract worth $1.825 million. With Mitch Marner out of the picture for Toronto, Robertson may get more opportunities.

Regardless, Robinson is reporting that multiple Western Conference teams are interested in acquiring the talented winger. Robertson and his brother, Jason, of the Dallas Stars, are from Pasadena, California. Jason is also dealing with his own trade rumors, as a significant contract extension is on the horizon.

With both players entering the final year of their respective contracts, the pending RFAs will be surrounded by trade rumors.

Robertson played the most games of his NHL career in 24-25, 69. The Maple Leafs winger scored a career high of 15 goals. He was often in a bottom-six role, too.

Ryan Reaves speaks highly of Nick Robertson

San Jose Sharks forward Ryan Reaves spent the previous two seasons with the Maple Leafs, so he’s familiar with Robertson.

There is no confirmed trade that will bring Robertson to the Sharks, just a report indicating their interest. SHD asked Reaves about the player and his style, not about a potential trade.

“He’s really skilled. He’s got an unbelievable shot [and] could put the puck in the net,” Reaves said. “He finds ways to score. Every time he came into the lineup, he found a way to score. Good little player.”

With the Sharks as a young, upstart team this season, adding a 24-year-old in would mesh well with the rest of the lineup. Reaves told SHD that Robertson has a quiet personality.

As for whether he tried to bring Robertson out of his shell, Reaves said, “I gotta work on 71 (Macklin Celebrini) first.”

Part of the reason the Sharks placed Reaves next to Celebrini in the locker room was to provide the star with a veteran who has a bigger personality.

“I don’t think he gets enough respect, that’s for sure. I watched him play last year; he’s up there with some of those [top] guys, if not better than some of those guys that people put ahead of him,” Reaves said about Celebrini at the start of camp. “He works hard. He plays the right way. You can see it just in the 5-on-5 and 4-on-4 skates that we had before camp. I expect a big year, just like I’m sure he does.”

Again, Robinson only reports the Sharks as a potentially interested team to acquire Robertson.
