Some NHL teams released their 2025 preseason schedule on Friday, including the San Jose Sharks.
The Sharks will play six preseason games, starting on Sept. 21, with three home games and three road games. They will host the Vegas Golden Knights twice and visit T-Mobile Arena once.
Other Sharks preseason opponents include the Utah Mammoth, Los Angeles Kings, and Anaheim Ducks. The last preseason game will be on Oct. 4 against Utah at the Delta Center.
All six games will be broadcast on the Sharks Audio Network via the Sharks + SAP Center app and on http://sjsharks.com/listen.
In 2024, the San Jose Sharks’ preseason schedule remained essentially unchanged. The first game was played on Sept. 22 and completed on Oct. 5. The only difference between this season and last was that the Sharks now play the Kings once and the Ducks once.
But when will the whole regular season schedule be released?
According to John Shannon, the NHL will release its schedule on July 16.
The 16th is later than it was last season. The 2024-2025 NHL schedule was released on Jul. 2. While there is no apparent reason why it is being pushed further back, theories can be proposed.
With a later announcement date, teams can prepare for a larger schedule release announcement, similar to the NFL. Another theory is that, with the 2026 Winter Olympics approaching, more time may be needed to finalize everything.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said in March that the first day of the regular season will be Oct. 7.
