Breaking: Sharks Extend Ostapchuk, Signs 4-Year Deal

BUFFALO — The San Jose Sharks have signed center Zack Ostapchuk to a four-year contract extension.

Ostapchuk was set to become an RFA this summer. This deal holds a $2.35 million average annual value.

After starting the 25-26 season with the San Jose Barracuda, Ostapchuk found a role in the NHL. He centered the fourth line and became a valuable penalty killer. In 59 games with the Sharks, Ostapchuk had four goals and three assists. The former Ottawa Senator showcased speed, IQ, and toughness.

Head coach Ryan Warsofsky valued his play and praised him throughout the season. His top highlight last season was a breakaway goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The San Jose Sharks forward flew past defenders before making a smooth move to the backhand and finishing up high.

The San Jose Sharks acquired Ostapchuk at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline from the Ottawa Senators. Fabian Zetterlund was part of the return to Ottawa.
