San Jose Sharks forward William Eklund will soon be upping his recovery efforts, his agent told SHD.
Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky met with the media and told reporters that he had spoken with the winger.
“I met with [Eklund] in Stockholm. He was in good spirits. He’s ramping up his rehab, so we’re not too worried about it. I think he’s going to be ready to go [for training camp],” Warsofsky said.
Eklund was set to play for Sweden at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, but a serious wrist injury that required surgery led to his replacement on the roster.
SHD was informed that Eklund isn’t yet at the “ramping up” stage of recovery. The Sharks winger is still wearing a cast on his left wrist, but it is expected to be removed within the next week.
Once his cast is removed, the San Jose Sharks winger will be able to do a lot more high-effort workouts. Eklund can now engage in lower-body workouts with a higher heart rate and sweat, as possible infection issues are now in the rearview mirror.
Per San Jose Hockey Now, Eklund’s recovery timeline from surgery was approximately three months. Eklund suffered the injury on May 3rd, and his timeline aligns with being ready for San Jose Sharks training camp, as Warsofsky expects.
