San Jose Sharks star rookie Macklin Celebrini suffered a lower-body injury against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday despite finishing with 19:25 of ice time.
Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters he doesn’t think Celebrini’s injury is serious.
The No. 1 pick missed 12 games earlier in the season after suffering another lower-body injury against the St. Louis Blues on opening night.
The Calder Trophy Favorite has averaged 19:45 TOI this season and leads all NHL rookies in goals with 18. Celebrini had two assists on Sunday.
Celebrini has 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points to lead the team.
Per Sheng Peng of SJHN, the center is still on the road trip. Despite not skating in practice on Sunday, head coach Ryan Warsofsky says Celebrini is a game-time decision for Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Carl Grundstrom and Walker Duehr were healthy scratches for the Sharks on Saturday. Nikolai Kovalenko is also on the trip but is currently on IR and could be activated if Celebrini misses an extended time due to injury.
