Former San Jose Sharks top prospect Thomas Bordeleau has signed a one-year contract with the New Jersey Devils.
Bordeleau, 23, was a restricted free agent whom the Sharks qualified before the deadline to retain his signing rights. San Jose then traded the 2020 38th overall pick to the Devils for former first-rounder Shane Bowers.
On Thursday, the Devils and Brodeleau agreed on a one-year, two-way contract for the former Sharks forward.
According to the press release, Bordeleau’s contract for the 2025-26 season will be $775,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 in the AHL, with $125,000 guaranteed.
In 44 career games with the San Jose Sharks, Bordeleau scored six goals and 12 assists. The former Michigan Wolverine reunites with a former teammate from his NCAA days, Luke Hughes.
Bordeleau voiced his frustration following just one NHL game in 24-25, but understood he needed to show he could play at the top level. A two-way contract suggests that the Devils may opt to send Bordeleau to the AHL.
In 59 games with the San Jose Barracuda, Bordeleau scored 14 goals and 24 assists.
