SJ Sharkie is an iconic mascot and a perfect character for the San Jose Sharks.
His frantic energy and engagement with the crowd are among the best in professional sports. On Tuesday, Sharkie was officially inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame.
Sharkie becomes just the third NHL mascot to be inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame. The Sharks’ lovable fish joins Youppi! of the Montreal Canadiens and Tommy Hawk of the Chicago Blackhawks.
SJ Sharkie has had iconic moments throughout his history. Arguably, one of the most memorable moments in mascot history was his failed stunt dropping from the roof right before a San Jose Sharks game.
He makes numerous public appearances throughout the San Jose community and never fails to amaze with what he does pregame.
His open mouth that flaps around whenever he hypes up the crowd often gets him into trouble. He loves eating opposing teams’ fans’ heads or anyone, if he gets too excited.
Along with the San Jose Sharks mascot, four other mascots were inducted on Tuesday:
- Blitz – Seattle Seahawks (NFL)
- Fredbird – St. Louis Cardinals (MLB)
- Sebastian the Ibis – University of Miami (NCAA)
- TORO – Houston Texans (NFL)
Congratulations to SJ Sharkie and the San Jose Sharks as the “hardest working fish” gets inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame.
