BREAKING: Sharks Sign Goalie Eric Comrie For Two-Years

The San Jose Sharks announced they have signed goaltender Eric Comrie to a two-year contract worth $1.15 million AAV.

Comrie, 30, joins the Sharks after spending the past two seasons with the Winnipeg Jets. Comrie was a second-round pick by the Jets back in 2013 and has played 102 career NHL games.

The Sharks needed to add to their goalie room, as they had just four goalies signed: Yaroslav Askarov, Alex Nedeljkovic, Matt Davis, and Connor Hasley. Comrie will provide quality depth right behind Nedeljkovic and Askarov, and help the San Jose Sharks’ minor league affiliate push for another postseason run.

In 25 games for the Jets last season, Comrie sported a 12-11-1 record, .890 save %, and a 3.13 GAA. He was thrust into a more prominent role last season after Connor Hellebuyck suffered an injury early in the season. During the 23-24 season, the new Sharks’ goalie had a 2.39 GAA and a .914 save % as a true backup for the Jets.

Comrie is the third free agent signing for the Sharks on July 1. GM Mike Grier has been busy signing defenseman Jacob Trouba and Mason Marchment.
