With the NHL Draft Combine wrapped up, the San Jose Sharks likely won’t have another opportunity to speak with prospects in person again.
GM Mike Grier and the front office took a few players out to dinner, including projected second pick Michael Misa. Misa spoke highly of the Sharks organization to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Sheng Peng.
“It was unbelievable. Very top-class organization. They’re all super-welcoming. Really, really nice people. I was thrilled with that,” Misa said. “It was more just casual. It didn’t feel like an interview at all. I think we talked about everything, movies, sports, school. It was great.”
After physical testing wrapped up today, 2025 NHL Draft prospects met with the media one final time. Forward Malcom Spence is Misa’s best friend and roommate at the combine. Spence told reporters that Misa is hoping to be drafted by the San Jose Sharks.
In many mock drafts and rankings, the Sharks are projected to pick Misa second overall. The 18-year-old centerman feels his game can translate to the NHL right away.
“I feel like I am ready to make that jump next year. That’s ultimately my goal, to make the NHL next year,” Misa said. “I think gaining that center experience that I had this year definitely helped my game, just trying to become that more reliable 200-foot player defensively as well. Overall, I am ready to make that next step.”

If Misa is the pick at two for the San Jose Sharks, their core forwards—Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, William Eklund, and Misa — should mean a bright future is ahead.
